The “Youth Sports Foundation of Puerto Peñasco” represented by Mr. Rick Busa in coordination with the city sports director, Fernando Lopez and in collaboration with the new city mayor, Sr. Alejandro Zepeda, together with city elementary school authority, are  pleased to announce that “Adopt an Elementary School Sports Program” is underway. This youth foundation after several years of operating on its own has immediately caught the new city government’s attention. Now they unite to strengthen the program in order to reach both the foundations goals and city goals.

         Also entering the foundations “line-up” is the home owners association of Sandy Beach Resorts here in Puerto Peñasco. This new team member (HOA) is a huge part of the “Adopt an Elementary School Sports Program”. In a showing of grateful kindness, HOA will provide a “Head Coach” for each of Puerto Peñasco public elementary schools.  The goal is to have  at least one resort adopting a schools sports program per elementary school.

         The program has gone from baby steps to fast walking, now with a strong roster of three collaborators, “Youth Sports Foundation of Puerto Peñasco, City of Peñasco and Elementary school authorities” are ready for fast sprinting. The “Youth Sports Foundation of Puerto Peñasco” is more than prepared to have elementary school athletes growing in competitiveness and at the same time living in a new culture when they interact with their schools “Head Coach”.  The main objective, now and future, is to have a better living in Peñasco.

President Calderon to Inaugurate airport Thursday

The much-anticipated inauguration is the hottest ticket in town

After much delay and some confusion, the Mar de Cortes International Airport will be inaugurated on Thursday morning by President Felipe Calderon Hinojosa. He will be accompanied by the Secretaries of Tourism and Transportation, Governor Guillermo Padres, and other Federal, State and Municipal representatives of various departments.

In September, then outgoing Governor Eduardo Bours made a final trip to the airport that many thought would be an official inauguration. That was not to be, and the ceremony in fact was deemed a final revision of the project.

That event can now be seen as a dress rehearsal for the actual inauguration, which will be followed by a luncheon at the Mayan Palace. Grupo Vidanta and the Mayan Palace have been working hard on the many details that go into an event of this magnitude.

It is rumored that arrangements have already been made for commercial flights, although no concrete details have been released yet.
